Jewellery Brand Misho Becomes More Of A Fashion Brand

What started as sculptural, metallic jewellery for the body has now blossomed into a full-fledged fashion brand, evolving beyond its roots to stake a claim in the world of couture.

The cult jewellery brand that has adorned possibly every big international pop cultural star (Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Zendaya and Selena Gomez are to name a few) is at the horizon of slowly becoming a couture legacy. Two years ago from now, Misho introduced it's first brone ready-to-wear body piece, what Suhani Parekh (Misho's founder & creative director) calls sculptural jewellery for the contours of the body. The ready-to-wear body pieces were indeed wearable art at it's unique form - metallic. But who would have thought what the future holds for the jewellery brand's couture journey.

If we rewind to the present, the newest admirer of Misho's metal couture is Bridgerton series's Nicola Coughlan, who has been finding herself with regular visits to her new modiste - Misho. Seen in a one-of-a-kind custom gown with a two piece bodice finished with 22k gold plating, the design studio bestowed to Coughlan, a true Misho style. But it is not the only highlight of the brands couture journey.

Infact, what really brought the jewellery brand's couture to the spotlight was when Parekh herself showed up in a 24k golden baby (bump) Misho armour for the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) Gala last year (2023). The pictures of the jaw-dropping look for the event were posted from Misho's official Instagram account which became viral on the internet instantly.

As Parekh says, "These past few months have been an incredible journey as a to be mom and as a sculptor and artist I wanted to capture this adventure, this moment and my body in my favourite medium - metal. The textural details on the metal belly were carved and modelled on the sonography photographs of our little mini human's face."

This is not the first time that a jewellery brand has tried it's hands on couture. In India yes (first time), but to see on an international level - Swarovski has been there. In the recent affairs of fashion, one could possibly remember the Met Gala of 2024 where Swarovski couture looks Illuminated the red carpet with five crystal embellished ensembles. To the year's dress code "The Garden of Time", Swarovski Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, responded with ensembles inspired by elements of Nature. She was accompanied by the Spring/Summer 2024 campaign cast and friends of the House, Karlie Kloss, Irina Shayk, Imaan Hammam, and Anok Yai.

Swarovski's history in haute couture is a centuries-old one, including pieces in collaboration with fashion houses like Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Balmain and Lanvin. In the 1900s, Swarovski crystals became coveted components in Parisian ateliers and a source of inspiration for iconic French designers Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli.

Getting back to Misho, Parekh believes that the brand's couture was an organic extention of her jewellery design's forms, as she talks about it to Wallpaper Magazine. But one cannot miss what the jewellery brand has to offer in terms of fashion and ready-to-wear ; Pearl bikini top, Black onyx halter neck, Hematite Body piece and lots of gold-plated bespoke bodice. After all, it's not everyday that a jewellery brand ventures into fashion.

"This isn't just an outfit, but an experience. It is glamorous but also empowering. Felt like an unstoppable wonder woman in 24 carat gold plated MISHO Armour." says Nyishi Parekh on her look for the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
